He started his career as an articled clerk and rose to become a full partner at his firm in a matter of years. In this time, Michael attained extensive experience in local and international commercial transactions and disputes. He’s a member of the main task committee which wrote South Africa’s Corporate Governance Code and Report and is well recognised in the industry for his notable experience in compliance.
Michael’s focus is on identifying key regional growth opportunities, and on day-to-day oversight of the business performance, as well as strategy conception, monitoring and execution. Working on enterprise solutions business units in sub-Saharan Africa, Michael’s career and expertise resolves around compliance training and oversight in the areas in which he operates.
Jürgen started his career in a German savings bank and holds an MBA degree in business administration from the University of Reading (UK). After holding several sales expert positions in the core banking systems, he joined FICO TONBELLER as the Head of Sales and Channels. In this role, Jürgen leads the sales and partner team in solution selling and data centre services, covering Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

After working for SARS and serving as the Integrity Manager, Liezl attained recognition as a competent strategist, renowned for developing innovative plans and activities to facilitate ethics and corporate governance initiatives. Currently busy with a PhD in Applied Ethics, Liezl specialises in corruption prevention and business ethics within the public and private sectors.
After establishing Vani Chetty Competition Law in 2007 - South Africa's first boutique competition law practice, Vani became a partner in Baker McKenzie's Antitrust & Competition Practice Group. She’s received several accolades, including being listed in The International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists and Global Competition Review’s “Top 100 Women in Antitrust”. She’s vastly experienced in financial services, property, construction, steel, insurance, entertainment, petroleum and consumer goods.
Not only is he a regular speaker on risk and compliance topics, he also coaches executives and senior managers. He has both built up and headed different compliance departments in emerging markets, retail, corporate and private banking. His extensive experience in designing and implementing new organisational set-ups, compliance and risk functions as well as the respective tools, makes him profoundly well-informed in the compliance profession.
After obtaining his PhD in Computer Science Information Security for Open Systems, Pieter program managed Nedbank's software development division to Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 4. Currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Demix (Pty) Ltd and works extensively with compliance industry experts to develop a CMMI for compliance.
She holds her BA LLB and LLM in Information Technology, Media and Communications Law. After working at Webber Wentzel’s litigation department Emma specialised in social media law, strategies and policies and trained corporates and schools. Emma has been featured on several platforms including TV and radio discussing social media, the law and court proceedings. She is the co-author of two prominent books published in 2014 and 2015.
Advancing from her role as the General Manager: Legal at the South African Insurance Association (SAIA), Suzette now provides trusted and valued services to Guardrisk Group. She focuses on managing the business’ reputation and achieving a balance between risk and reward. She holds a BLC LLB degree, is an alternate Director on the SAIA Board and was awarded the Cover Award for excellence in service to short-term insurance in 2014.
Since completing her B.Proc and LLM, Juanita has attained vital insight within compliance predominantly in long- and short-term insurance. Juanita has served as a Partner at Webber Wentzel - Financial Regulatory Practice and now operates as in-house legal counsel at Hollard. She has also co-authored two publications “Principles of Financial Law” and “The Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Guide”.
A formidable management leader in audit, risk and control, Reinette has attained regional and international exposure that has led her to her current position as the Managing Director of Barclays Bank of Botswana. Her role entails providing leadership and strategic direction to Retail Banking, Short-term Insurance, Business/Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) and Corporate banking divisions.
Mike’s specialty in social media, social business consulting, education and implementation for corporate brands led to the founding of Cerebra – his online site. With this platform, Mike constantly engages with various businesses from diverse industries and has become aware of the difficulties and pressures they face with their compliance function in the digital era. This led to him publish the highly sought-after business book - #BrandSchizo, designed to help brands successfully navigate the opportunities and challenges of the social era of business.
Contributing to his success, is Greg’s unparalleled understanding of the pressing business and compliance issues, various industries face. This knowledge has been gained by his exposure to several business processes and technologies, particularly the SAP solutions. Greg’s main focus is on niche areas including risk and compliance and excel based ERP reporting.
